Social science research - A Democratic study

A study which is related to the community cannot be conducted in an aloof manner. It has to connect with people and involve them to get the information on which the study will be based. A social science study is such a research, as it is connected to the society, conducted for the society and with the help of the members of a social group. Dissertation writing on social science has to engage the public and build confidence among them regarding the research work. The social scientist has the onus of selecting a target group which is appropriate for the study and defining the manner in which they will participate in the study.

There is the option of letting the participants know about the study or keeping the motive of the research from them. If the researcher thinks that people will not share information, or will be conscious if they know that they are being observed, then he must take on the role of a participant himself and mingle with the group. He must make all the observations and note them while being a part of the group. This will also give him a chance to study the participants and their activities, interactions, traditions and events from close quarters. He can take help from PhD thesis writing services for understanding the points which must be noted during such an observation, and also for interpreting the interactions and symbols used by the community.

In some cases, however, the researcher needs to get a written approval from the participants stating that they have no objection on the researcher being present to observe them over the specified period, and using the information gathered in a research. In case of hurdles, a professional PhD thesis consultant can help the researcher in getting the approvals.
